Published on Saturday, March 26, 2011 in Sponsored Shows

The 39th National Appaloosa Nationals, currently being held at AELEC, kicked off on 25 March with the National Futurity Show.  Judge, Dave Young (NZ), was presented with good numbers in most classes and a great day's showing was enjoyed by competitors and spectators alike.

From a field of classy fillies, the weanling filly class was won by the elegant and beautifully coloured Lyn-Lins PrettyDarnHotAce, by Ashfield Dreamin Aces and owned by L and L Skelly.

Weanling Colts were also well represented, with the stunning chestnut and white APS One Hot Dream took out the class, much John Maher, his thrilled owner’s delight.  John, from Forest Lake in Queensland, had only had five weeks to prepare the colt, due to some bad luck with his other foals and is very pleased that he's done so well.  APS One Hot Dream is by the well performed and  beautiful RP Perfect Nights Dream, who John says has gone really well crossed with his mare Ashfield Dream Rebel, “I’ve been searching for the right stallion for this mare and am very happy with the progeny produced by her and RP Perfect Nights Dream,” says John.

The Weanling Gelding Futurity was won by TS Keepin Ur Imagination, sired by Beyond Zippos Imagination and owned by Meaghan Hennessy, while the Yearling filly Futurity was taken out by the beautiful Mega Dream filly, Miss Teen US of A.

Winner of the Yearling Colt Futurity was the stunning black and white Mega Dream colt, Ashfield Easy On The Eye.  Owner Kerry Andrews was extremely pleased with her colt’s win and the preparation and showing carried out by Margaret O’Brien of Ashfield Stud.  This colt will definitely be one to watch out for as a future sire.

RB Time to Rule, by TL Time For Inclusion and owned by Rosemary Childs received the garland for winning the Yearling Gelding Futurity.

Self Obsessed, by An Obesession and owned by N Wilson and M Halligan won the 2yo Halter Futurity while the legendary Classic-Elle Maid by Mr, by Riverdowns Mega Mr and owned by Tracey Stibbard won the 3yrs and Over Halter Futurity.

With the halter Futurities done and dusted it was time for the Hunter In Hand Futurities where Lyn-Lins AcesHotnPretty, by Ashfield Dreamin’ Aces and owned by Blayze Williams won the two year old class; and the gorgeous Ampleur Hot and Hawnie, by HF Something Hot and owned by Raelene Gilboy and Amelia Leeman, took out the three year old class.

The 2 yo Hunter Under Saddle Futurity entrants had a short warm up in the arena before judging commenced and all were well behaved with the class being won by the elegant Censational, by My Only Concention, owned by Anne Brooksbank and ridden by Raelene Gilboy.  While Ampleur Hot and Hawnie (pictured above), hot on the heels of her success in the Hunter Under Saddle classes at the Halter Showcase, won the 3yo Hunter Under Saddle Futurity in fine style.  The 4yrs & Over Hunter Under Saddle Futurity was won by Yallawa Rockin The Stars, by WJ Beyond the Stars, owned by Helen Pallister and shown by Terese Searle.

Censational and Raelene Gilboy backed up their Hunter Under Saddle success with a win in the 2yo Western Pleasure Futurity and it was proving to really be Raelene’s day when she came out on Ampleur Hot and Hawnie and won the 3yo Western Pleasure Futurity.  Yallawa Rockin The Stars also backed up a win in the Hunter Under Saddle, this time with Kyle Mobberly on board, in the 4 yrs & Over Western Pleasure Futurity.

At the time of writing the Trail Futurities weren’t finished so stay tuned for results on the trail and for the full story on the National Show.  Facebook updates will be done each day.
