Five Minutes With Georgia Worth

Published on Wednesday, November 17, 2010 in Five Minutes With Horsezone

Horsezone Business Manager, Haylie Martin, was able to grab five minutes with exciting young Kiwi dressage rider Georgia Worth before she jets off to Germany for the FEI World Young Dressage Rider Championships.

Having been based on the Gold Coast with trainer Ben Conn since May, 17 year old Georgia will take her 13 year old Dutch Warmblood Veritas with her and will stay on in Germany for a year to train with Hayley Beresford.

What’s your favourite brand of horse gear?
To be confirmed!! I think a bit more brand exposure is needed!

What do you miss the most from New Zealand and what do you think you will miss the most when you leave Australia?
Friends and Family, and my pets. Australia, the people and the weather!

What are you most excited about?
Seeing and experiencing Europe!! Also looking back in a year’s time and seeing my progress.

What do you think people would class as the strangest thing you’ll be packing for yourself and Valdi?
I might be guilty of purchasing eye and muzzle makeup for Valdi. Apart from that I think my traveling gear is pretty normal.

Do you get nervous or have a special routine before you compete?
Yep, I get nervous, it shows that I care! No real routine, I tend to imagine my test in my head before I hop on to ride it, which always ends up taking 10minutes or so before I am happy enough with my little imaginary test.

What other horse sport would you do if dressage wasn’t invented?
Polocross!

Interests outside of horses?
Going out with friends, horses don’t really make room for other interests.

Where do you see yourself in five years?
Hopefully working with horses, I would like to see myself in some form of relative financial independence from my parents, and still with a bit of a game plan about where I want to go in life.

Big dog/little dog?
Big!! I am currently thinking the Caucasian Ovcharka (pictured) is a very cool dog to have in the future.

Stay tuned to Horsezone for updates from Georgia in Germany.
