Flood Auction Firing Up!

Published on Thursday, February 17, 2011 in 2011 Queensland Floods

With just one day to go for Horsezone’s stallion service auction over $26,000.00 has been raised to aid horses and their owners affected by flooding around Australia!

Bidding is set to close at 8pm Sydney time tomorrow night (18 February).

Over 100 services have been donated by the tight-knit horse community and currently the stunning Grand Prix dressage stallion D’Dur leads the field with the service to him having reached $1,850 at this stage. Showing the great value that is still to be had, the Revelwood Warmblood Stud sire is still well under his actual stud fee of $2,800.

The warmbloods have seen the most action however there are still a lot of sires going for less than half their stud fees including Fishermans Friend, Jive Magic and Regardez Moi. Karingal Equestrian’s Sandrels is at $670 – well under his stud fee of $2,750 while his stablemate, Hanoverian stallion Dornkaart is currently at $370 for a usual $2,500 fee.

Black Swan Freisians', Hotse, a son of the 2002’s World Champion Friesian Jasper 366, is currently at $1,075 and still has room for more bids before he reaches his stud fee.

Vicky Roycroft’s Premier des Hayettes has been the most popular choice for those looking to breed jumpers while there is still plenty of opportunity with the likes of jumping machines Statford Milano, Statford Monaco, the well bred Glen Haven Agile and the more modern day eventing type Sterntaler Rendezvous.

There are five Irish Sport Horse stallions represented giving breeders a chance to secure some of the genetics that saw the studbook come out on top at last year’s FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses.

The Andalusions Galero XIV and GP Lusito are seeing some bidding action but there's still room for more on these perfect examples of their breed.

If you've always had a hankering to breed a race horse - now's your chance!  There are some well bred Thoroughbreds going for far less than their standard fees.  Who knows? You could breed the next Melbourne Cup winner!

Top bloodline Arabians including the stunning Shai'lan SHAH, Arinya Park Klass and Joda Alluvial, as well as other lovely horses are also on offer, with most still a long way off reaching their usual stud fee. The western horses - Quarter Horses, Paints and Appaloosas - are feeling a bit lonely and are all far off their advertised fees. Remember that Arabians, Western Horses and Clydesdales produce wonderful crosses and are perfect with other breeds, meaning you could inject a little of the unique traits of each of these breeds into your breeding program!

We mustn't forget the Ponies! On offer is everything from cute and colourful APSB/Pinto Windong Celtic Clansman, adorable Welsh Pony Dalgangle Griffin to elegant Riding Pony Rathowen Toy Soldier and many, many more gorgeous ponies.

The Australian Stock Horses are doing pretty well but there are still good stallions on there going cheap!
