Funding Boost for Equestrian Sport in Victoria
Equestrian Victoria (EV) has secured a $65,000 grant from Sport and Recreation Victoria, for the development of a ground breaking volunteer program.
The EV proposal to Sport and Recreation Victoria, identified, engaged and united the leading equestrian associations in the state including the Pony Club Association of Victoria(PCAV) and the Horse Riding Club Association of Victoria(HRCAV) in the development and delivery of this initiative.
The new EV volunteer program will recruit, retain and reward volunteers at its annual events, in a format that can then be rolled out to all clubs across the state.
EV CEO, Greg Pratt, welcomed the State Government’s support and said Equestrian Victoria is very proud to have obtained a significant investment for equestrian sport.
“The support from Sport and Recreation Victoria is a huge boost and will help us to continue to strengthen the equestrian sporting calendar. We look forward to delivering a volunteer program that can be initiated by Equestrian organisations across Victoria. I can only encourage our other states to follow suit,” said Mr. Pratt.
The $65,000 funding is in addition to $20,000 apportioned by Sport and Recreation Victoria, under its Significant Sporting Events Program for the upcoming Melbourne International Horse Trials(MIHT) taking place at Werribee Park on the Queen’s Birthday Weekend in June.
