Get Involved in the Prime Minister's Olympic and Paralympic Games Challenges

Published on Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in 2012 London

The Prime Minister's Olympic and Paralympic Challenges are special initiatives specifically for young people and are an ideal way to get your child or students to be a part of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Individuals, schools, after-school care centres, sporting organisations and individuals aged between four and 14 are encouraged to get involved.

The Challenges encourage Australian primary school-aged children to get active and try a variety of sports in the lead up to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Once registered all children have to do is play sport or take part in activities at school, home and/or as part of their sporting group. Children accumulate points by recording the type of sport in which they participate and the amount of time they spend playing.

The more sports that children participate in, the more points they earn towards receiving a gold, silver, bronze or participation certificate. Plus, they may even get the chance to meet an Olympic athlete or win prizes along their sporting journey.

Register your child, school or organisation for the Prime Minister’s Olympic Challenge at www.olympicchallenge.gov.au

Register your school for the Prime Minister’s Paralympic Challenge at www.paralympicchallenge.gov.au

While you’re visiting the site, check out the dedicated page for Equestrian sport. There’s information about the history of Equestrian at the Games as well as a summary of Australia’s success. You can also read a message Equestrian's ambassador of the Prime Minister's Olympic Challenge, Edwina Tops-Alexander.

The Prime Minister’s Olympic Challenge will conclude at the close of the London 2012 Olympic Games and the Prime Minister’s Paralympic Challenge will conclude at the close of the London 2012 Paralympic Games.
