Published on Tuesday, September 21, 2010 in General

The pioneer in establishing Ladies polo in Australia, Adam Meally’s Riverlands Polo Club, is set to host their popular Ladies International Polo Tournament on 7 November. Held at the Windsor Polo Club in Richmond, each year the event attracts teams from overseas as well as over 30 national players.

This year Australia, America, New Zealand and Europe will be represented by teams with a jousting exhibition and market stalls among the other attractions on the day.
Established in 2003, Meally and his team’s mission to provide polo at an affordable price has seen the Club having grown to a membership of over 30 active players to make it one of the largest and most respected clubs in Australia.

Riverlands holds 10 training clinics per year that range from introductory to advanced levels. The best coaches are sourced from around the world and include Meally (Australia), Gavin Chaplin (South Africa), Earl Herbert (New Zealand) and Matthew Webb (UK).

The facilities at Riverlands include two polo fields, an all weather wooden horse plus a team of 20-30 lease horses, which are available for hire for people that don’t own their own or are travelling internationally. There are also over 10 school ponies that are used in for coaching clinics.

A major supporter of the Polo In the City event in Sydney, Riverlands also host a winter and summer polo league plus four major polo tournaments per year with each one attracting up to 16 teams from around the country.
