Global Champions Tour 2012 Calendar Dates

Are you a showjumping fan and planning an overseas holiday next year?  Now's your chance to organise a to visit one of the countries included in the Global Champions Tour and experience the world's best showjumping live!

Many more people will now have the opportunity to experience world-class show jumping with the addition of four new destinations for the 2012 season. 

Mr Jan Tops President of the Global Champions Tour is gratified to announce an extended calendar of events for the 2012 season.  “We are very pleased with this progress for the Global Champions Tour to spread further in a global context and confidently looking ahead to 2012. Show jumping is making excellent headways in terms of world-wide recognition as a formidable sport.”

The 2012 Global Champions Tour show jumping calendar will add a Grand Prix in Switzerland, Austria and China, the first time the circuit is to showcase in these countries. Wiesbaden will also join Hamburg as GCT events to be hosted in Germany.

Wiesbaden will become the fourth event in the sea­son in May.  Lausanne and Vienna have been allocated dates in September to be followed by Shanghai in October.  The other nine established events will continue to hold allotted calendar dates.

Wiesbaden us one of the oldest and most traditional equestrian shows in the world:  in 2011 they celebrated their 75th anniversary. Each year since1949 the show takes place at Whitsun on the park grounds of the historical monument of the Wiesbaden-Biebrich Palace.

Lausanne located on the north shore of Lake Genève becomes the destination for the10th round of the GCT, 2011.  The second largest city on the lake, Lausanne is built on three hills, surrounded by vineyard-covered slopes with the old medieval town is dominated by the gothic cathedral.  It is hardly surprising that this destination will be a visual delight. 

The Global Champions Tour in Vienna will be one of the most spectacular venues in 2012.  In beautiful surroundings, in one of the most visited concert arenas of Vienna, the Global Champions Tour will be hosted right on the square in front of the imperial Hofburg Palace in the heart of the city.

The GCT China Grand Prix was inserted into the calendar in October and will be held in Shanghai at the Expo 2010 complex.  The 21st century global village has impressive architectural marvels of the 250 or so corporate and country pavilions: China, Spain, the United Kingdom, Sweden, Denmark, Saudi Arabia, Italy, among others.

Following in the guise of 2011 the GCT season will again be book-ended by the Middle East region. The opening round in Qatar, Doha (April 5-7) and will see the finale again in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates 22-24 November.

Of course Eurosport will broadcast all of the Global Champions Tour events in 2012 bringing the richest series to over 123 million homes across 59 countries.

It will be another season of pure pleasure of exciting destinations combined with top show  jumping that is synonymous with the Global Champions Tour.

The 2011 Final is being held at Abu Dhabi on 24 - 26 November 2011.
