Global Champions Tour Journeys to Portugal
Round seven of the Global Champions Tour will be hosted by the Portuguese city of Estoril.
This is the seventh year that the coastal city has hosted a stage of the world’s premier Show Jumping event and it is the penultimate round before the world’s top Show Jumpers and their horses head to London to battle for sport’s highest prize - an Olympic gold medal.
Edwina Tops-Alexander enters the latest round of the Tour as the overall series leader and will pair with Guccio, her 10 year old bay stallion after Cevo Itot du Chateau completed his final warm-up for the London Games at the sixth round of the Tour in Monaco.
At the conclusion of the Monaco event where Edwina placed seventh, the 38 year old said, “We are only halfway through the series so a lot could change. It is quite hard to hold a lead the whole way through but I hope I can do it.”
“(Itot) has been very consistent and he jumped great, I am very happy about today. This was (his) last preparation before the Games,” she said.
You can catch Edwina and the world’s top Show Jumpers in action on Eurosport channel 511 on Foxtel and Austar from 9:30am AEST Sunday. Check the TV guide on the EA website for further broadcast times. Live streaming of the event is also available on the Global Champions Tour website.
