Hay Supplies for Recreational Horse Owners Affected by Floods

Published on Saturday, January 15, 2011 in 2011 Queensland Floods

The Qld Horse Council will have a truckload of hay arriving at the Ipswich Showground possibly on Monday, 17 January, if roads are clear. There will be more hay trucks coming with the next one being sent to the Gatton area, once again if roads are clear.

The hay will be directed to the worst affected regions.  This hay is however the Qld Horse Council can get it, including round bales and large square bales.  Hay will be in short supply throughout Queensland for quite some time.  There are several loads coming after the initial loads, which will be sent to affected areas as they come.  This hay is for horses only, and available in limited amounts, only to recreational horse owners who fall between the funding cracks.

Special disaster flood assistance grants of up to $25 000 are available to help Queensland primary producers and small businesses who have been affected by the November-December 2010 floods (including those in January 2011). These grants are available under Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements (NDRRA).

Please contact Debbie Dekker 07 54646785 mob 0420926281 if you have a need for hay in your area as a result of the floods.
