Heading North 2012

Published on Friday, February 10, 2012 in General

Medical student, Sam Alexander, feels he is currently at a stage in life when he can afford to disappear from society for a year and discover Australia in a very unique way. Not looking for an average adventure, Sam has decided to undertake a solo 5,330km journey across almost the entire east coast of Australia on horseback!

Sam's year long journey isn't just so he can see our wide and diverse land from the saddle, it is designed to promote the importance of medical care in rural Australia, while also stimulating much needed donations to the Royal Flying Doctors Service.

Thanks to modern technology Sam is keen to share the experience with people through the utilisation of modern media like his website, YouTube and Facebook. While on the journey he intends to keep followers updated with heaps of videos, pictures, blogs and media releases. In exchange for sharing his life changing experience he hopes to stimulate donations towards his selected charity, the Royal Flying Doctor Service.

Sam will begin the ride on the 20 February and head north until the end of the year, hopefully making it to the completion of the trail in Cooktown Queensland.

Along the way he will be visiting local high schools and communities to promote his cause. If you are interested in joining Sam for a section of the trail or would like him to visit your school/community, please contact Sam via his website - link below.

The overall goal is to utilise this unique ride to raise awareness and generate donations to the Royal Flying Doctors Service.

We wish Sam all the best on his journey and look forward to hearing about his adventures and fund raising efforts along the way!
