Horse Riding in Sydney's Centennial Parklands

Published on Tuesday, April 24, 2012 in General

Horse riding is a magical and addictive activity, yet not enough people, especially in busy cities like Sydney, take advantage of the pleasures that it offers.

These are delights easily accessible from central Sydney, which has the Centennial Parklands and its Equestrian Centre in its front yard.

Centennial Parklands, one of the world’s great urban parklands, snugly nestles by the congested heart of Sydney and it offers opportunities to undertake horse riding in a variety of its forms, for riders from the inexperienced to the expert.

A unique way of experiencing urban parklands

The Centennial Parklands Equestrian Centre (CPEC), which stables about 250 horses, makes it easy to benefit from the remarkable perspectives, health benefits and sensory delights that horse riding offers.

Most of us experience Centennial Park at ground level (or close to it). The additional height of a horse provides what is almost like dual pair of personality-laden stilts. Partly due to this, you get to experience the tranquility of the Park in a quite unique way. Other dimensions of horse riding’s uniqueness include:

  • There is something singular about the activity of riding itself, including the need to manage, and be engaged with, your means of conveyance – horse riding is relaxing, but not passive
  • The physicality of the large, muscled animal you are being up close and friendly with.
