Horse We'd Love to Own... Golden Girl - Warregold Cindy

Published on Friday, February 11, 2011 in Feature Horses

Specifics: Warregold Cindy, a registered Australian Stock Horse (Reg 184972) 14.3hh, golden dun mare was foaled on 24/02/07 and bred by Steven and Ursula Keating of Warregold Stock Horse Stud.  Cindy is by Warregold Leather and out of Kirkbys Stud Wattle.

She's an A-lister because: Not only did this huge-hearted golden girl survive the horrific flooding at Chinchilla, by swimming for over 1km behind a boat to become the horsey face of the floods, Cindy is a perfect example of all that is great about Australian Stock Horses! When she swam into the history books, Cindy symbolised the extent of the flood tragedy and the measures rescuers went to saving horses all over Queensland.  In more normal circumstances, Cindy is busy doing what she does best, being a wonderful riding horse!  Nothing phases Cindy - she’ll go all day and try everything.  Prior to Christmas and the terrible floods, Ursula Keating had been riding Cindy regularly at the Stanbroke Pastoral Feedlot and was very impressed with her ability on cattle, wonderful nature and softness.  Cindy is so quiet that the Keatings’ four and seven year old children ride her with no problems and she is a total pleasure to handle in all ways.  Steven and Ursula were planning to start campaigning Cindy at campdrafts this year.  Her dam and sire were both successful at drafting and with these bloodlines we're sure Cindy will follow in their hoof prints, however, she is such a talented and trainable horse that the Keatings are confident she will excel at any event.

How can Cindy be yours:  Poster girl, Warregold Cindy, has come through particularly well after her horrific ordeal  and is now ready to go back into work, however, Steven and Ursula Keating, who have suffered many hardships themselves as a result of the floods, have generously decided to auction Cindy while the Horsezone Stallion Service Auction is being run, from 14 – 18 February and donate half the proceeds from her sale to the flood relief fund! This is a fantastic opportunity for a lucky person to own not only this great mare, but a piece of Australian history.

Who deserves Cindy?  Someone who will make the most of Cindy's big heart, natural ability under saddle, quiet nature and calm, trainable temperament.  She deserves to go to a home that will appreciate the story behind her survival and be proud of her tenacity and refusal to give in under great adversity.  Someone who will treasure and love this Aussie Icon!
