Horses We'd Love to Own...

Published on Wednesday, May 18, 2011 in Feature Horses

There are thousands of wonderful horses currently listed for sale on Horsezone and the team thought we'd pick our favourites for the moment to share with you:

Jo's Pick...

Appaloosa Stallion - TL Phenomenal Dream (AAA 60865)

Specifics:

Four year old, 16hh, chestnut and white Appaloosa (Phenomenal Touchdown {IMP Quarter Horse} x Triple L Exclusively Maid)

Why he's on the A-list:

This stunning young stallion has world class breeding and an impressing showing record, including National Grand Champion Stallion 2010. He has produced a crop of exceptional progeny this season, the best of which are ‘Dreamfinder’ crosses, so he is well suited to the majority of mares out there.

What I really love:

With his superb temperament, which he passes on to his progeny along with his gorgeous looks and eye catching movement, he can be handled by a woman for breeding purposes - paddock serve, hand serve, AI and collect on a dummy or live mare. He ran last season with a gelding all winter.

George's Pick...

Grand Prix Winner - Constantine

Specifics:

Ten year old, 15.3hh, bay gelding, registered with ESNZ

Why he's on the A-list:

Constantine is the winner of 6 One and Two Star Grand Prixs this season including the 2010 NZ National Showjumping Derby.  He was second overall in the Cathay Pacific NZ Grand Prix Series 2010/2011, was winner of the NZ Speed Horse of the Year 2009 and winner of the NZ Seven Year Old Series 2008.

What I really love:

Not only is this horse a proven competitor, he is well schooled on the flat with a Snaffle Mouth, which makes him enjoyable to ride. He's super competitive up to 1.40m and is very brave and careful! Constantine would make an awesome Junior or Young Rider Horse.

Haylie's Pick...

Warmblood Colt - Dolcetta

Specifics:

2010 brown Warmblood colt, who will mature at approximately 16.2hh (De Niro x Feiner Stern) Registered with ACE

Why he's on the A-list:

Born September 2010 Dolcetta was awarded Elite Status at the 2011 ACE assessment tour with an overall score of 81%.  He is a beautifully refined colt with striking markings, superb conformation and expressive movement. He has a friendly and calm temperament and is very responsive to training.

What I really love:

Dolcetto carries proven performance bloodlines on both sides of his pedigree. De Niro needs no introduction to the dressage world. His off-spring are in demand the world over. Feiner Stern carries the lines of the famous foundation sires Furioso II and Gotthard. He was awarded the title of main premium stallion in Oldenburg in 1987 based on his performance, impressive appearance and convincing first crop of foals.

And one more from us all...

Eventing Schoolmaster - Foreal

Specifics:

Nine year old, 16.1hh, brown, gelding, registered with EFA and FEI Eventing.

Why he's on the A-list:

Foreal is a very talented, honest, brave and bomnproof 2** eventer, he has the talent to further his career to the top levels or give a young rider the confidence and experience needed to go further in eventing.  Parents can relax knowing this horse will try his heart out to look after his rider.

What we really love:

He is a machine cross country and loves his job! You really do only have to point and shoot!! Foreal is extremely quiet, he is happy to walk, trot and canter around, with no leads, listening to the aids of a 6 year old girl! He is good to float, truck, shoe, etc. He does gates of any sort and can be ridden bareback in a halter!! Foreal is a young rider and mother's dream.
