International Aussie Stars to Ride at Exhibition Eventing Final

UK-based eventing riders Paul Tapner (pictured), Sam Griffiths and Clayton Fredericks will be among the starters at the Equestrian Grand Final to be held at EQUITANA on Sunday 13 November.

The riders have accepted an invitation to ride borrowed horses in the Exhibition Eventing Final and will add a fresh element of international stardom to the field. Lining up to compete against Olympic and World Games team mates Shane Rose, Stuart Tinney and Megan Jones the contest will be fierce (Tinney and Jones are also invited as wild cards). 
Equestrian Australia is seeking loan horses for Paul, Megan, Sam and Clayton. Horses must have two qualifying results at 2 x CIC2*s since November 2011. Please contact Nicky Turner at nicky.turner@equestrian.org.au if you would like to find out more about lending a horse. 
In all 15 horses and riders will compete for the $15,000 prize pool.  Click here for the current list of competitors, which will be updated following the second qualifying event, to be held at the Royal Melbourne Show on 30 September.
Paul Tapner is the 2010 Badminton winner and was a 2010 World Games team representative. Clayton Fredericks is an Olympic Silver medallist, two time World Cup Champion, World Games individual silver medallist and team bronze medallist and Kentucky CCI4* winner. Sam Griffiths was a 2010 World Equestrian Games team member and placed 3rd at both Badminton and Burghley CCI4*s in 2009. This year Sam finished 4th at Badminton. The final Exhibition Eventing qualifier will take place at Royal Melbourne Show on September 30 deciding the final four riders for the Equestrian Grand Final.
