Inverell's Festival of the Horse

Published on Friday, November 5, 2010 in General

"WHEN GOD CREATED THE HORSE, HE WAS HAVING A GOOD DAY"

With the quote above used as their catch phrase, it’s easy to predict Inverell’s Festival of the Horse, is going to be the perfect place for lovers of all things equine, from Thursday 18 until Sunday 21 November.

This unique event will be held in the beautiful New England town of Inverell, NSW and is a joint venture between the Inverell Jockey Club and the Inverell Equestrian Council. The festival will provide a venue, environment and opportunity for all those people involved in the horse industry to meet in the one place, to display their horses and products. The theme of the festival is....."A tribute to the horse and the part it has played in our history in peace and war."

Inverell’s Festival of the Horse will have something for everyone. It will be held on adjoining venues, those being the Inverell Racecourse and the Inverell Equestrian centre. The combined area covers some 60 acres. There is a large camping area with adequate toilet and shower facilities adjacent to both the racecourse and the Equestrian Centre and the town’s CBD is less than five minutes from the Festival sight. The racecourse has large areas that are undercover and this will be the location of most of the trade displays, as well as the entertainment area for children. The equestrian centre has large areas of open space and will host the majority of the horse activities.

The aim of the Festival is to encourage as many breeds, studs, individuals, clubs and organisations as possible to participate in a festival that will truly be a "FESTIVAL OF THE HORSE."

The many and varied events, displays and attractions will include Horse Health Sessions, The Horse in our History Display, Kids carnival, Pony Rides, Art Gallery, Mechanical Bull Competition, Fashion Parade, Commercial Displays, Archers on Horseback, Performance Team, Walers, Western Pleasure, Dressage v Western, Dressage demonstration, Tent Pegging, Heavy Horses, Horse shoe pitching, Best Working Hat, Barrel Racing Demonstration, Tribute to the Horse, Carriage Driving and a Horse Sale on Sunday to finish off the Festival.

To add to the excitement of this wonderful event, Beccy Cole will be performing live on Saturday Night, 20 November!
