The Horse Sport Ireland website has announced, in a major boost for sport horse breeding in Ireland, that the Irish Sport Horse Studbook topped the list of Studbooks at the World Breeding Championships for young event horses in Le Lion d'Angers in France.

The Irish Studbook powered home with five Irish-bred horses finishing in the top eight places in the crucial 7 year-old category. An Irish-bred horse also finished second in the 6 year-old category. The horses were ridden mainly by British riders.

Speaking after the win Horse Sport Ireland's Director of Breeding and Programmes Alison Corbally said "This a great boost for Irish breeding and it is a great credit to the breeders who bred these horses. This shows that there is a new generation of young Irish-bred event horses coming through and it reinforces the message that Ireland is the place to come if you want to buy a top eventing prospect," she said.

With Irish Sport Horses showing such success at world class level, local eventers may want to invest in their own Irish Sport Horse, bred right here Australia and local breeders should promote the prominence of their breed in the placings, at such a prestigious event as the World Breeding Championships!

Following are the results from the World Breeding Championships for young event horses.
