Jasper and Inglis Lead the Field at Camden Show!

Published on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 in General

It seems appropriate with the Inglis Easter sales in full swing, that an Inglis horse should be out there winning, however, on this occasion it wasn't a fast and fleet Thoroughbred, but a safe and sturdy Clydesdale who lead the field.  Exactly the type of horse that would have been very popular at  sales in the 1800s when Inglis first started selling horses.

A living piece of history, Jasper the ten year old Clydesdale, was purchased six years ago by Grahame Ware Snr from the Inglis Camden Sales for $3,500.  Jasper and Grahame did a perfect job at Camden and were sashed as Champion for their events, doing Inglis proud.  The successful pair compete regularly at shows around Sydney, including Sydney Royal, but that's not all they get up to!

This year Grahame and Jasper will sadly be absent from Sydney Royal, however, they'll still be in the limelight! Grahame revealed that Jasper and many of his other heavy horses, are currently busy making a TV series about bushrangers and the early days of Australia, titled 'Wild Boys'.  The show features plenty of horses and especially draft horses in harness towing various wagons and lorries, everything from Cobb & Co coaches though to horse drawn hearses!

Jasper features plenty in the show, both in harness and under saddle - he's an old hand at being in front of the cameras, having done plenty of TV and advertising work previously.  Grahame obviously thinks very highly of this genlte giant, saying that Jasper is a good, honest horse who is always reliable.

'Wild Boys' human stars include Daniel McPherson and Zoe Ventoura and the show promises plenty of colonial action with horses featuring in many scenes.  'Wild Boys' should be on TV late 2011/early 2012.
