Join in the Fun at the Coonamble Rodeo & Campdraft: 8-10 June 2013

Published on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 in Sponsored Shows

The 58th Coonamble Rodeo and Campdraft is being held on 8-10 June (the long weekend) and you're invited to come along and join in the fun!

This event is renowned as the largest in the Southern Hemisphere and is held in Coonamble, six hours North West of Sydney.

The judges have been booked, rough stock contractors confirmed and the campdraft cattle are gathering in the surrounding farms.

Horsezone is once again proud to be a sponsor of this event and local businesses are also being supportive.

XXXX Gold were signed last year as a sponsor for three years and as part of their generous support there is an opportunity to win a trip to XXXX Gold Island worth $10, 000!

The total payout figure for events at the rodeo and campdraft last year was just short of $60,000 for both arenas. There have been increases made to some events, so this year will be even bigger!

In addition to the top rodeo and campdraft action there will be live entertainment, a full bar and food stalls; the Annual Mechanical Bull Riding Competition and a Patchwork and Quilting Exhibition.

The Committee are very excited about the 2013 event and are looking forward to it being very successful.

Entries for the campdraft open on 17 May.

About the Coonamble Rodeo and Campdraft

Running for over 56 years now, the Coonamble Rodeo & Campdraft is the largest event held each year in the town and is the largest combined Rodeo/Campdraft in the Southern Hemisphere. In 2009 the event was recognised as a Regional Flagship event by Tourism NSW and was promoted heavily both interstate and overseas.

Around 1000 cowboys and cowgirls, along with approximately 4000 spectators, head across the central western plains of NSW to the edge of the Outback, transforming the Coonamble Showground into a full-on explosion of wild riding action.

On Saturday & Sunday, the  cowboys launch from the chutes competing for over $30,000 worth of prize money in steer wrestling, calf roping, barrel racing and, of course, the glamour events of the Saddle Bronc,  Bareback and Bull rides.  On Monday the Junior Rodeo sees the up and coming stars of the Rodeo circuit compete.

The Rodeo is run by the Coonamble Rodeo Association and an unpaid volunteer committee.  The President of the Coonamble Rodeo Association is Mr. David Burtenshaw.
