Kids Cutting Clinic - Guaranteed School Holiday Fun!
Are you searching for low cost, high fun entertainment for your horse-mad children these school holidays?
Then look no further than the Christensen's Cutting Clinic for Kids!
With the current high cost of competing in the sport of Cutting meaning that many people simply can't afford to attend clinics, let alone competitions, Mt Stanley, Queensland residents and keen Cutting competitors Sarah and James Christensen, decided to do something about it!
The Christensens have four children who are all keen to learn about and compete in Cutting, and with plenty of cattle available on their 3000 acre property, they decided to build an arena that fully meets NCHA show pen regulations so they can start running clinics and hopefully in future, shows. Their beautiful property, 'Tuckerimba' is located in the Upper Brisbane Valley and is easily accessible.
The first Christensen's Cutting Clinic will be held 20 - 21 September and will provide a great diversion for horsey children in the first week of the school holidays.
A very low $80.00 per child for the two days is the cost of the clinic, which includes all tuition, cattle hire and NCHA insurance, plus morning and afternoon tea. The Christensens are able to keep the cost of the clinic amazingly low because they are donating the cattle and the trainers - who include Casey and Alana Tones, Ron Mann and Glenn Jones - are also donating their time. They want to make learning about Cutting and having fun with horses accessible to all children.
This clinic is perfect for children who are interested in Cutting, Campdrafting or just having great fun on the back of a horse, while learning more about horsemanship and horse care.
The only age limit is that participants cannot be over 18, as Sarah says, "some kids are competent and keen riders from as young as five years of age, so we don't want to put an age limit on how young attendees can be. As long as they're fairly confident in the saddle we're very happy to have them. We are aiming to have 40 children and will split them into groups with the different instructors, probably determined by age and/or ability. In addition to the learning they will do on horseback, we're also having a horse dentist and a farrier visiting to explain about teeth and hoof care. If the little ones get too tired riding, we'll also have instructional dvds for them to watch with their trainers. Children should be accompanied by parents who are welcome to bring their horses and help move cattle etc. Depending on how the lessons work out, we might finish with a ride out on our property, which is located on the Brisbane River and is very picturesque."
Basic Camping Facilities are available to to Clinic attendees and their parents.
The Christensens are also planning to run an Adult Cutting Clinic on 12 - 13 November so stay tuned for more details on that.
