Lady Luck - Ladies International Polo Tournament - Sunday 7 November

On Sunday 7 November the Lady Luck, Ladies International Polo Tournament, which incorporates Europe, Australia, New Zealand and the USA, will be held at Windsor Polo Club, Old Kurrajong Road, Richmond. This exciting event is hosted by the Riverlands Polo Club and will include 4 action packed games of polo, featuring some of the best female polo players that the world has to offer. It is the largest and most prestigious event of its kind in Australia. As well as the polo, there will be a must-see "jousting" exhibition and a chance to win a Harley Davidson motorcycle.The Lady Luck Ladies International Polo Tournament is an official Women's Championship Tournament (WCT). The WCT is a world class women's polo event that showcases the highest level women's polo in the United States and is the largest women's polo tournament series in the World. The tournament format includes Qualifier tournaments played across the country and abroad throughout the year, culminating in the annual WCT Finals.
Over the course of the first five seasons, the WCT has set the standard as the premier women's polo event in the United States, where the best players in the world come to compete. With women players representing one of the largest growing sectors of polo today, it comes as no surprise the enthusiasm and following the WCT has attracted worldwide.
The players on Sunday will include the following ladies:
AUSTRALIA:
Kirsty Sullivan - 2 goals
The highest rated Australian female polo player, Kirsty has been playing polo for 16 years, playing all over the world - NZ, Germany, USA and Singapore, competing in such events as the Shanghai Tang tournament in 2007 and 2008 and the Northern Challenge Cup 2010 USA Ladies Tournament. Kirsty lives in Murrurundi with her 2 young children and partner Rob, where she breeds and trains horses.
Peta Ray Gailton - 0 goal
Peta has played polo on and off for 20 years competing nationally and internationally, including the Women's International in Jamaica in 1995 and again in 2005. At 42 years old and married with 2 teenage daughters, off the field Peta is a veterinarian from Scone, NSW.
Amanda Tolhurst - 0 goal
Introduced to polo through her family at an early age, Amanda is now a member of Windsor Polo Club. From 2008 she began playing more frequently and competitively in 0 - 10 goal mixed tournaments, moving her handicap from -2 to 0. She competed in the winning team of the last three Riverlands' Ladies Tournaments and travelled to Ireland in 2009 to compete in an International Ladies Tournament. Amanda was successful in the 2010 Autumn 6 goal series, winning 3 consecutive weekends with Winten/Windsor. Polo brings together everything she loves in life... family, horses, friendships and good times, all in an adrenalin charged sport!
Katie Grimmond - 0 goal
At 28 years old Katies lives in Redgate QLD, with her partner Richard Rawlings who also plays polo. In August 2009, Katies was part of the Australian ladies team that travelled to Ireland and also played in the Riverlands Ladies tournament test match in 2009. Katie says that the biggest reward she gets out of polo is the enjoyment of playing with Richard on horses that they have trained and meeting so many lovely people through the sport.
USA:
Louissa Crossley Evans - 1 goal
Louissa was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and currently plays most of her polo in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa. She played polo for Zimbabwe Schools at 16, Scottish Universities Ladies while studying at Edinburgh and then went on to play for Zimbabwe Ladies against Zambia. Louissa recently married Gareth Evans, a 6 goal professional, and looks forward to many more years of polo ahead!
Sophia Crossley - 1 goal
Sophia was born in Harare, Zimbabwe and is an Interior Designer. She plays most of her polo in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa and recently represented South Africa in the Ladies International. Sophia has played in Argentina, Kenya, Zambia, Zimbabwe and England where she won the prestigious 18 Goal at Coworth Park. Polo is her passion!
Angela York - 1 goal
Born in Texax and currently residing in Wellington, Florida, Angela has played all levels of polo from 0 to 20 Goal, competing in Jamaica, Dominican Republic, Argentina and Patagonia. Angela has also played and won in the 2004 20 Goal Sunshine League, 2008 WCT World Cup and the 2010 Miami Beach AMG Bracket 2, taking home the Most Valuable Player award. Angela's goal is to be part of an international women's team that travels around the world playing fun yet competitive polo.
Natascha Baecher - 1 goal
Dutch born Natascha was educated and has lived most of her life in England, where she also started to play polo in 1997. in 2000 she went to Coronel Suarez, Argentina on a "gap" year and moved there in 2003. Natascha is a member of Coronel Suarez Polo Club, being the only female player. She also captained the Buenos Aires Ladies Polo team tour of South Africa and played in the first ladies tournament in Italy. She has played in Argentina, Canada, England, Italy, South Africa, Uruguay and USA.
