Lights, Camera, Action! Last Day of PSI Dressage & Jumping with the Stars a Hit

Published on Monday, March 26, 2012 in Event Results

The final day of the 2012 PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars did not disappoint.

The day started with the second half of the Intermediate 1 Freestyle which saw David Shoobridge and 00 Seven take out first place in the Mayfield Farm Prix St Georges Cup.

Shanon McKimmie, showed the benefits of correct training having placed in the 6yo class at the 2011 PSI Dressage and Jumping with the Stars with the impressive Ambassi, and stepped up to win first place in the CDI-Y Freestyle.

The quality in the young horse classes continues to grow, a sign that Australia's breeding programmes are on the right track.

The 4yo winner SS Dante, who is out of former PSI Dressage with the Stars Champion of Champions Donna Carina, impressed guest rider Emile Faurie who gave the horse an 8.2 with his 'big gearbox, great mechanics, trainable and adjustable body'.

Awarding a score of 9.0, Emile did not want to get off the 5yo winner and eventual Champion of Champions, Sugarloaf Sirhara who he found to be an honest and willing ride. He commented on her great mechanics and natural uphill way of going.

The 6yo winner SS Sonnata Hit backed up a successful 2011 with a score of 8.5. Emile commented that the horse was a beautiful, elegant type with great ability to adjust and an excellent canter.

The Esther Bellis Perpetual Trophy, awarded by The Horse Magazine  for the all round young horse, competing in both the Dressage and Show Jumping championships was again won by the adaptable and talented Linbil White Russian who was a previous winner of this award.

Following a rousing rendition of the National Anthem by Kassie Southwell it was time for the Champion of Champions. Sugarloaf Sirhara was the worthy winner of the PSI trophy rug and Pessoa dressage saddle supplied by Saddleworld in the PSI Australian Young Dressage Horse 2012,  and Rosewater Driving Miss Daisy, Australian Young Dressage Pony 2012, was a proud recipient of the Perpetual Trophy and $2000 donated by Jill Cobroft, and a  saddle from Kentaur.

The competition concluded with a wonderful display of dressage in the CDI Grand Prix Freestyle with a win to Maree Tomkinson riding the lovely Diamantina in only her second Grand Prix, making it two from two for this talented mare. “Im just an ordinary rider with an extraordinary horse.”

The festivities concluded with the the 'Party with the Stars', with everyone thoroughly enjoying the opportunity to let their hair down after three wonderful days of competition. Dancing the night away to The Rock Dogs.
