Young New Zealand showjumper, Lily Tootill, will be making her way to Hong Kong today to compete in the FEI Children’s Final.

The 14 year old from Auckland will compete against another top 15 riders from around the globe who have qualified from their various regions.

Lily qualified for the event at the Wellington Horowhenua Championships in February 2011. Children 12 to 14 years from all over the world jump exactly the same course, with the results collated to find the top 16 to compete against each other at the final where they will all ride borrowed horses.

The event runs from January 10-15. Travelling to Hong Kong with Lily will be her parents Jon and Cindy as well as her Coach Jeff McVean and his wife Vicki. Tootill will be hoping that McVean will provide the expert guidance that saw his daughter Katie win the competition in 1999.
