Loots Image - 'The Sire' of Paint Horses!
In November 1996 Australian soil was blessed with the arrival of a truly great performance horse and sire, Loots Image (IMP). This stunning Paint stallion, bred by Caroll and Elizabeth Newingham of C & C Paints, was born in Illinois, USA, on 9 January 1993 and named CC Loots Image, as he was the absolute image of his famous sire, Gran Loot.
CC Loots Image was a high achiever right from the start, having earned his APHA Champion Award in May of 1996 – as a 3 year old – by which time he had earned 66 halter points and 135 performance points. Before arriving in Australia Loot had been awarded:
• APHA Superior Halter Horse
• APHA Superior Western Pleasure
• ROM Trail
• Missouri Breeders 2yr old Futurity
• Illinois Breeders 2yr old Futurity
• Nebraska 2yr old Futurity
• Circuit Champion Midwest Regionals-Nebraska & Wisconsin PaintORama
• Winner of more than $8,000 in prize money
• Points in Reining & Western Riding.
Purchased by and imported into Australia by the Loots Image Syndicate and given a slight name change – dropping of the CC prefix – Loot continued on his winning way. He won at halter and under saddle at National, State and Royal Show level. He was shown with great success by well known trainers, Wayne Judge, Raelene Higgins and Glen Wyse.
To demonstrate his wonderful temperament and versatility, Loot was also shown in Amateur classes by Wayne and Narrelle Burge. Before long Loot earned his PHAA Champion Award, making him the first Paint Horse in the world to hold a Champion Award in the USA and Australia.
Now retired from the show ring, Loot is living up to his name as ‘the sire’ and is passing on all his wonderful traits to the next generation, with progeny winning in both Australia and the USA. In the USA Loot has sired Halter, Western Pleasure, Lungeline and Youth Champions. His Australian progeny have won The Australian Halter Showcase Weanling Futurity and 2yr old Western Pleasure Showcase and at NPHA Weanling, Yearling and Open Halter Futurities, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle and Reining Futurities. At PHAA National and State Shows, Loot’s progeny are Champions at Halter, Led Trail, Western Pleasure, Hunter Under Saddle, Reining, Trail, Working Cowhorse, Hunter in Hand and Western Horsemanship and are also consistent winners of High Point Awards. Loot’s talented offspring are owned, enjoyed and shown by youth, amateurs and professionals and not only are they stunning looking and beautiful movers, they stay sound of body and mind over the long term.
In 2004 the Paint Horse Association of Australia first introduced their “Top ten Leading Sires List” and Loots Image was announced as:
#1 Overall Leading Sire
#1 Leading Performance Sire
#2 Leading Halter Sire
Then in 2005:
#1 Leading Performance Sire
#231f20]#2 Leading Halter Sire
#231f20]#2 Overall Leading Sire
And in 2006:
#1 Overall Leading Sire
#1 Leading Performance Sire
#2 Leading Halter Sire
But wait, there’s more, in 2007 Loot “scooped the pool” or took out ‘the trifecta’:
#1 Overall Leading Sire
#1 Leading Halter Sire
#1 Leading Performance Sire!
In 2008 the horse industry in Australia came to an abrupt standstill due to the outbreak of Equine Influenza, so there was no PHAA High Point Awards for that year, however in 2009, Loot was still the one!
#1 Overall Leading Sire
#1 Leading Halter Sire
#1 Leading Performance Sire!
“Top Ten Leading Sires” lists are calculated by the number of progeny competing across all events at all levels of competition, all over Australia. It is no wonder Loot is the leading sire, his ‘kids’ have excelled in numerous events with twelve of his progeny (to date) earning their PHAA Champion Award: Dee Bar Blue the Loot, Absolootlyazippo, Absolootimage, Loocille, Instant Loot, Tunza Loot, Lootscootin KC, Double the Money, Killfloot, Little Loot, Instant Loot, and C.L. Main Event (PHAA Champion Youth Horse). Loots progeny have proved that they can hold their own with some of the best Quarter Horses in the country and continue to excel in the show pen, winning impressive titles at the major shows, additional proof that Loot passes on exceptional temperament, trainability, good looks and correct movement to his progeny.
