NPHA Pleasure Celebration Show

Published on Thursday, May 12, 2011 in Sponsored Shows

[PREVIEW]With the 2011 NPHA Pleasure Celebration show all set for 18 - 22 May, the best western performance horses in the country will be heading to SIEC to show their stuff, for a share in the over $100,000 of prize money on offer.

This is without doubt the most prestigious western show in the country, which features high quality horses from all the western breeds - competing and winning at the NPHA Pleasure Celebration Show is the goal of every serious western pleasure competitor.

The NPHA committee has decided to have three judges officiating  for all the Open Western Pleasure and Hunter Under Saddle feature events. All three judges will place the class separately and the placings will be scored. Then all three scores will be added together to end up with the final placings. This system is the same one used at the AQHA World Show in the USA. The committee decided that this is what was needed to further the standard of excellence for the show. If it ends up being a success this year then it is hoped to bring it in for all feature events in the future.

Jayes Park has taken over the sponsorship of the $20,000 2YO Western Pleasure Futurity and the NPHA committee thanks them for this kind gesture. Xtreme Quarter Horses have also offered increased sponsorship this year to enable the 3YO Western Pleasure Futurity to have the prize money increased to $10,000. The NPHA would also like to thank them for this kind sponsorship. JVQ Stud and Phoenix Farms have continued their exciting sponsorship of the $20,000 Weanling Halter Slot Futurity and also added a $10,000 Yearling Halter Slot Futurity. These classes will have a specialist halter judge officiating.

The NPHA has also taken over the running of the NSW State QH Championships which will run from 13 - 16 May as a lead up to the Pleasure Celebration Show.  This show includes open breed feature events, so Appaloosa and Paint horses who are attending the Pleasure Celebration will also be able to enter these classes.

Competitors who are at SIEC getting ready for the State Show's start tomorrow are saying that it is freezing cold, but everyone is very keen and looking forward to over a week of top quality western showing!
