Huge numbers of entries in equestrian interschools annual competitions have led to a new initiative from EquestrianNSW - the NSW Interschools Series Competitions.

EquestrianNSW saw the need for increasing opportunities for its younger members to have more competitions amongst their own age group.

The problem was that the cost of running such competitions and the demands on the organising committees was very significant.  So the idea evolved of running competitions within already organised events.

The EquestrianNSW Interschools Committee set about finding a sponsor for this idea and bingo, Horsezone answered the call!

It will work like this.  When a rider who is a potential Interschools competitor sends their entry in to whichever competitions they choose, they go online to the ‘schools’ field and fill in their school name.

This enables the entry secretaries to calculate a winner within the Interschool Entry in each division of the classes.

The reward will be a saddlecloth patch sponsored by Horsezone!

The great part of this initiative is that it will reward and recognise the very significant efforts of EqeustrianNSW's Junior members and allow them to truly measure their competition results against their peers. There will be a prize awarded for the most successful school at the NSW Interschools State Championships each year.

Equestrian NSW and in particular the Interschools Committee, is extremely grateful to Horsezone for their very generous support of this idea.

Eventing NSW have already come on board and are running this initiative within the following competitions.

  • Denman                                                          Equestriad
  • Berrima                                                           Sydney International Eventing
  • Qirindi                                                             Sydney Eventing
  • Riverina Equestrian (Wagga Wagga)              Mid Western
  • Harden                                                            Coffs Harbour
  • Canberra                                                         Silver Hills
  • Hidden Valley                                                   TIE (Tamworth)
  • Scone                                                               Mirrabooka
  • Goulburn                                                          Albury

Jumping and dressage are in the process of deciding which competitions might involve this series and it is hoped to be able to advise news of this in the very near future.

Horsezone's initiative in sponsoring this series of competitions will enable the identification of the most outstanding junior riders in the various sports.  This goes hand in hand with the relationship Horsezone is building with the National Federation and the very substantial services and advantages it will give our members.

The Interschool Series competitions, are not required for entry qualifications into the NSW Interschool Championships.  Members are encouraged to enter this annual competition and whilst numbers can be accommodated, there is no previous competition requirement other than in eventing and even then the entry requirements are kept to a safe minimum.

Horsezone is in the process of producing the saddle patches and we look forward to seeing successful members proudly displaying them on their saddlecloths.

Good luck and safe riding!
