Own Capability - the Equitana 'Painted' Horse

Published on Friday, February 18, 2011 in General

Only a few artists ever manage to capture perfectly the elegance of nature's most beautiful animal - the horse.  Bärbel Georgi is one of those artists.

Her striking paintings reveal not only the grace and beauty of her subjects, but also their spirit and personality. Today Bärbel's canvases hang in collections around Australia and throughout the world.

During Equitana 2010, a life size model horse was featured in the foyer area and painted by Bärbel, whilst the Riding for Disabled Association of Australia Ltd (RDA) ran a "Name the Horse" competition.  The winning name was “Capability” to reflect RDA’s mission to recognise their riders' ability rather than disability.

Now this stunning work of art could be yours! If you're looking for a colourful and beautiful equine that doesn't eat much or need shoeing, than Capability could be the perfect horse for you.  He is being auctioned by Inglis Bloodstock - Oaklands Junction - on 18 March 2011, with all proceeds going to RDA.

A voluntary, nonprofit organisation, RDA provides opportunities for people with a disability to enjoy safe, healthy, stimulating, therapeutic, horse related activities in Australia.

You can see Capability in the 'flesh' at Melbourne's Crown Promenade from 24 February until 4 March.

Capability's specifics are:

Full size horse

Length 229 cm

Height 208 cm

Weight 52 kgs

If you're looking to buy a horse that's certainly different, be sure to go along and place your bid for this unique and special equine!
