Pelorus Trust Grants Major Support to New Zealand Dressage Team Riders

Published on Tuesday, October 4, 2011 in General

As NZL Riders Gear Up for Olympic Qualifier in Sydney, Dressage NZ has received a substantial grant from the Pelorus Trust to assist with team travel and accommodation for this all important event. So a huge thanks to them and also to The Daisy Chain who have sponsored casual team apparel and Zilco for the team horse rugs.

FountainCitySaddlery also ran an auction which realised over $1,000 to be shared directly amongst the five riders.  Thank you Fountain City Saddlery.

Sadly for Ottillie Upshall, Tama Park Bradman has suffered a slight tweak in training and has been withdrawn as travelling reserve for the NZL team to compete in Sydney at the end of the month. They have been replaced by Owhango’s Kieryn Walton and Saraceni.

Vanessa Way and KH Arvan have already landed safely in Sydney in preparation for a competition at Clarendon this weekend. They are based at Clemens Dierks Aracadia property

Louisa Hill is making good a good recovery from the broken hand suffered in late July and she & Nicky Pope (Fabarchie) have been training with German based  Andreas Meuller.  This pair fly out on October 16th  and will join Way at the Dierks stable.

On the 20th, Cambridge based Shiwon Green & Gosh and Walton with Saraceni fly to Sydney and will go straight to the magnificent SIEC venue near Horsley Park.

The Bates Australian  Nationals begin on Thursday 27th  but the team horses will not be permitted to start in the Int II and will be fresh up for Friday’s Grand Prix.

The Australians have clearly committed to fielding a team, but the position of the Japanese and South African participation at the second leg in Ermelo (NED) early the following week is not yet clear.

An experienced judging panel has been named with the President named as Stephen Clark (GB) who will also head the jury at the Olympic Games 2012 in London

Thirty nine horse are entered in the Grand Prix  - see the starters here  in the fitness inspection list

Messages of support for the team can be sent to dressagenz@xtra.co.nz
