Plans to Make Boer War Horse Memorial Talk Rejected
Published on Wednesday, October 2, 2013 in General
Plans to make the Boer War Memorial's horse appear to talk will likely be scrapped because of concerns over historical accuracy, reports www.news.com.au.
The state branch of the National Boer War Memorial Association has secured funding for a $50,000 audio system at the equestrian memorial on North Tce, telling stories of the first war in which South Australians fought.
Deputy chairman Murray Alexander has pushed for the horse to start the first story neighing and snorting then introducing itself, saying something to appeal to children such as: "I'm Thunder, my sire was Lightning, because you can't get thunder without lightning can you?"
