Published on Wednesday, July 6, 2011 in General

The Two Rivers Technology 2011 Polocrosse World Cup will bring all the excitement of top quality polocrosse to England from 8 - 17 July.

2011 marks the third Polocrosse World Cup, the first two being held in 2004 and 2007 at venues in Australia. The tournament takes place every four years.

The event is being held at Onley Equestrian Centrer near Rugby in Warwickshire, UK and will see the top eight Polocrosse countries in the world battle it out for the ultimate title. British crowds are sure to be amazed at the skill, speed and daring of both horses and riders in one of the most action packed and fastest paced equestrian sports!

Alongside the main attraction there will be displays and demos from other equestrian disciplines and various acts, along with a shopping village of trade stands, kids fun area, food stands, a fully licensed bar and corporate hospitality marquees.

There will also be a Polocrosse International Challenge featuring other polocrosse playing nations and an International Pony Club polocrosse competition.

The venue, Onley Equestrian Grounds, has previously hosted the UKPA National Championships and provides excellent playing surfaces with laser levelled pitches and extensive space for a range of supporting activities.

As well as hosting the Polocrosse World Cup, Onley Grounds Equestrian Centre will this year play host to a number of other major events, including the Royal London Horse Show.

So the teams have arrived, the horses are ready and everything is well underway with the draw complete for horse pools.  The horse pools draw was conducted on Monday morning after IPC President Wessel Strauss formally welcomed the competing teams. Each of the eight nations are now busy familiarising themselves with their horses before competition begins on Friday.

The Polocrosse World Cup competition will be filmed and then four hours worth of matches (including matches such as the World Cup final and the two semi-finals) will be shown on Sky Sports a number of times in the following months. Once Sky have shown the footage it, and possibly additional matches, will be shown on Horse and Country TV (Sky Channel 280) and online.
