Quality LC Horse Farm Horses - Now on Horsezone!

Published on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 in Feature Horses

Auckland-based operation LC Horse Farm have been quick to jump on board with Horsezone, offering some exciting young jumping prospects on Australasia's  fastest growing horse sale site.

French native Steve Cohen bought the 50 acre farm back in 2004 and introduced two foundation stallions Telegraph and Lindberg des Hayettes, while the stud’s broodmare band is a mix of New Zealand thoroughbred mares with proven jumping lines plus some impressive imported French mares.

Of putting the horses on Horsezone, Steve commented, “We saw this as an opportunity to market our young-stock to a much wider audience. They’re a talented bunch with their New Zealand national results speaking for themselves and I’m sure they’d be just as competitive in Australia.”

Two major jewels have been added to the farm’s crown with the recent purchase of two well-bred and performed French mares.

Lesbos d’Ouilly is a mare that is as much proven in performance as her breeding, claiming the French Four-Year-Old Championships and having competed to international level for the French Show Jumping team.

“Bringing a mare of this caliber into New Zealand is exciting. She will be competing this season and we’ll also be offering embryos from her and the other mare, Sherazade du Ter, for public sale.” With an ISO rating of 141, she is a daughter of Le Tot de Semilly, one of the most successful stallions the world has ever seen. His progeny includes Michael Whittaker’s famous mare Ashley, approved stallions Fetiche du Pas, French six-year-old Champion, Diamant de Semilly, Champion of France and Team World Champion 2002, Elkintot, 18th individually at 2002 WEG and mare Eloïse de Semilly, qualified for the WEG 2002 for the Australian team.

Her dam Gardenia was an international winner for Spain and has an impressive breeding record producing super mare, Jubilee d’Ouilly, ISO 182 10th on the FEI world ranking list), Helios d’Ouilly, ISO 138 and the approved stallion Kronus d’Ouilly ISO 178 (30th on the FEI world ranking list).

Sherazade du Ter is by the Voltaire son Concorde, sire of international sport horses with offspring proving themselves at the very top of Grand Prix Show Jumping while she herself was an exceptional performer winning the Silver medal winner in Barcelona with Piet Raymarkers and later the Grand Prix at Aachen and the Dutch National Championships with Jos Lansik.

Last season Canadian young rider Kyle Timm joined the LC team as head rider and trainer. Arriving in New Zealand with an impressive resume he has trained with Eric Lamaze and produced young horses to Grand Prix in North America, Europe and now here in Australasia.

Commenting on the opportunities for buyers in New Zealand, Kyle said “I believe New Zealand has been overlooked by Australian clients in the past because of the former predominance of the thoroughbred gene pool. I would like to take this opportunity to personally invite Australians back to New Zealand, specifically LC Horse Farm in Auckland, to see how much the breeding and training has improved. “

“We are regularly travelling to Europe and North America buying, selling, showing and watching some of the best horses in sport. We have some of the top bloodlines that Europe has to offer in Warmblood breeding and more importantly we have a top team to produce these horses to international level."

Looking to develop the trading side of the business Kyle said “We’ve taken considerable time to balance our string of horses we are now proud to be offering young horses from yearlings to seven year olds jumping up to 1.40m. We’ve got horses to suit all clients and we’re committed to making sure a New Zealand horse-hunting trip is successful and will work in with other breeders and trainers to find the most suitable match possible.”

In Europe, the Stud’s Lindberg Des Hayettes is ridden by Samantha McIntosh and after a short spell is back in good form. The CSI 5* in Madrid saw him produce three clear rounds for three placings and at the prestigious Zangersheide Sires of the World in Lanaken, Belgium he grabbed a second place in the first qualifier but one rail in the final cost him a place. Most recently they competed at the prestigious London Olympia with a place in the 1.50m and just out of the money in the 1.60m.

Having had great success last year with Lindberg’s first five year old LC R Mister Berg who's results included winning the NZ North Island Championships, winning the five year old Horse of the Year and 2010 Five Year Old Series it is becoming well known that producing young horses is one of LC Horse Farms strongest qualities and Kyle believes this season will produce even better results. A prediction that has shown to be very accurate so far with LC youngsters claiming the top 3 slots in the five year old series and first and third place in the six year old series.

In addition to Lindberg Des Hayettes and Telegraph semen, this season LC Horse Farm also offer the opportunity to breed to three new French stallions who have had top results at Olympic and World Cup level; Tinka’s Boy, Lando and Epsom Gesmeray.
