Quarter Horse Youth and Amateur Trans Tasman Challenge

On 4 - 9 October 2011, one Youth and one Amateur Team from the Australian Quarter Horse Association will compete in the Trans Tasman Challenge in New Zealand.

Held every second year, the Trans Tasman Challenge is a cooperative effort of the Australian Quarter Horse Association and the New Zealand Quarter Horse Association, which is designed to foster leadership and camaraderie amongst the Australian and New Zealand competitors. It is an opportunity of a lifetime to compete internationally and represent Australia, whilst gaining valuable knowledge, Horsemanship skills and making new friends!
 
Holly Johnson from Westdale, New South Wales, is the Youth Team Coach and Team Members are:

  • Ashley Van Den Bogert (Walkerston, Queensland) pictured right at the 2011 NPHA Show
  • Carly Ganzer (Maylands, Western Australia)
  • Alice McManus (Rowville, Victoria)
  • Lana Kelderman (Glenburn, Victoria)
  • Holly McCredden - Reserve (Gleneagle, Queensland)

 

Dawn Marshall from Lockwood South, Victoria, is the Coach for the Amateur Team and Team Members are:
  • Christine Van Den Bogert (Walkerston, Queensland)
  • Annette Boyd (Swanpool, Victoria)
  • Leteisha Andrea (Seymour, Victoria)
  • Carol Elliott (Nandaly, Victoria)
  • Craig Rath (Katandra, Victoria)
  • Richard Platenkamp - Reserve (Somerville, Victoria)
 
Team members are required to compete in specific classes at the Challenge, which include, but are not limited to, Showmanship, Western Pleasure, Western Horsemanship, Trail, Western Riding, Reining, Hunter Under Saddle and Hunt Seat Equitation.
 
The Australian Quarter Horse Association is very proud to have these Teams represent the Association in international competition and wish them all the best
in defending the title!
