RASQ - Equine Hall of Fame 2011

Nominations for 2011 inductees to the Furlong Stud Equine Hall of Fame are now being accepted.

The Equine Hall of Fame recognises outstanding contributors to Australia’s equine history.

Horses, people, organisations and establishments who have achieved in the equine field are eligible for nomination to the hall.

Existing Equine Hall of Fame members include Phar Lap, Bernborough, Bill Roycroft (pictured riding Our Solo in the 1960s), Hugh Sawrey, June Petersen, Jim Atkins, Eureka Stud and the Waler.

Photos and a summary of each member’s achievements are on permanent display in the Glenvale Room at Toowoomba Showgrounds.

Three new members will join the list during the Equine Hall of Fame dinner and induction ceremony at Toowoomba Showgrounds on Friday, 23 September.

The dinner is part of a gala Thoroughbred weekend, which includes the Fitton Charity Race Day at Clifford Park on 24 September and Darling Downs Thoroughbred Stud Tour on Monday, 26 September.

Hall of Fame nominations close on 30 June.
