Real Deal Action Rodeo - Bringing Rodeo to the City

Keith and Tami Tribe are the organisers of Real Deal Action Rodeo (www.realdealaction.com.au) that is held regularly at Horseworld Indoor Stadium just off Windsor Road near Rouse Hill in North Western Sydney. The venue boasts stadium seating for 2,000 and provides a safe and fun environment for all ages. With live music, licensed bar, jumping castle and showbags there is something for everyone.

The rodeo is affiliated with the ABCRA Association and cowboys and cowgirls travel from all over the state to compete for prizemoney.  Real Deal Action run most events including Barrel Racing, Team Roping, Steerwrestling, Bull Rides and Saddle Bronc.

The recent rodeo held on 26 May saw plenty of thrills and spills.  Mikayla Weir travelled up from the south coast to win the Ladies Barrel race with a time of 16.23.  Sam Wilson edged out her step mum Danielle Wilson by .04 of a second to ensure they took home the majority of the prizemoney in the Breakaway Roping.

Meanwhile the cowboys ran some very close times in the Steerwrestling and when they had dusted themselves off, Brett Wilson and Paul Kenny shared 1st prizemoney with a time of 4.03 sec.  The Team Roping was won by local Mick Morris and Steven Robinson with a time of 8.96 sec.

Up at the rough stock end of the arena the young Bull Riders went head to head with some quality stock. The novice event saw Cody Ballard see plenty of action and take home the first place prizemoney.  He was, unfortunately, injured during his dismount and required a stay in hospital but was released within days. The Rodeo Protection Clowns ensured there were few injuries and provided plenty of entertainment as well. John Dekoeyer showed plenty of style in the Open Saddle Bronc on the Rick Wilson contracted Kylie and went on to win the event.

Tami and Keith try to get the crowd involved where possible and in May they organised Big Al the Rodeo Clown to run a ‘Best Dressed Cowgirl’ and Best Dressed Cowboy’.  During the break Big Al selected several children from the audience and the crowd voted with their voices.  The winners of each class received $125.

The main attraction at most rodeos is the Open Bull Ride.  Matt Besant’s bulls didn’t disappoint the crowd and on the night Denver Kallus and Beau Duke put in an impressive eight seconds to take home the first place prizemoney.

Next event is planned for the 11 August.  Photos from May can be found on www.jensol.net under Rodeo Photos.
