The Snowy Mountains was bought (sic) alive with the WooHoo’s of the crowd watching the Reining In The Alps Show at the Jindabyne Equestrian Resort.  The two day show was bought (sic) to the region by the NSW Reining Horse Association with the help of sponsors such as Arena Pro Products, Horseland and CRT.

The local crowd was given the opportunity of seeing a high class of competition with plenty of spinning and sliding action by the athletic horses and riders.

Twenty One events were held over the two days from Beginners and Non Pro classes through to the Open class.  The Stockmen’s Reining Challenge was popular with the local riders and was won by  Michelle Suthern on her versatile horse Mr Bo Jangles.  Horses competing at the show were predominately quarter horse bred, however there were various other interesting combinations including a Tennessee Walking Horse who completed his workout in style!

The main event on Saturday night was the Open.  After some exciting runs Rob Lawson  on Hollywood Tradition and Mick Taylor on Whizzel With Me tied in first place with the impeccably presented Sonya Taylor on the buckskin CL Spinin Up Dust following closely in third place.  In fourth place there was another tie between Matt Charles, Tony Mitchell and Guy Laurie.  Errol Taylor travelled down from Queensland to judge the weekend’s event and was kept extremely busy.

Rob Lawson (Vice President NSW Reining Association) commented that it is anticipated that this event will be an annual event and encourages locals to come along and sample the sport.  The next show for the NSW Reiners will be held on Saturday 5 May 2012 at Horseworld near Sydney leading up to the State Show in July.
