The Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship 2013 inaugural winner was announced at the Brisbane CDI last weekend.

Remi Stud are donating a weanling every year to a young rider who has the talent and dedication in either dressage or eventing, but not the financial means to purchase a quality competition horse.

This year the weanling is a black colt by Lauries As/Lanthan named Remi Livingstone - S. We have put together a wonderful group of Supporters for the Scholarship and would like to thank them for their amazing support:

  • Saddleworld - new saddle, bridle and saddlecloth
  • Prydes Easifeed - 3 years feeding of the weanling
  • Team Van den Berge - Breaking in and 10 weeks training
  • HorseForce Legal - Contractual legal work
  • EQ - Life registration of weanling
  • EA - Marketing and ongoing support
  • Westvets - gelding, vaccinations and veterinary requirements

We are delighted to announce the inaugural winner of the Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship is Isabella Wilkinson-McIntyre. Isabella (Bella) is a remarkable young lady and competitor and she is only 15 years old. She is one of 5 children and lives with her mother, Vanessa, who I am sure has been her greatest support. Whilst still in Grade 10, she has successfully managed to train herself and compete three different horses at three different levels (EFA, QISEA and PCAQ) consistently winning and placing at them all.

Bella’s home facilities are very limited, so most of her training (which she does herself) has been done at her local Pony Club Grounds in Mogill or at the Fig Tree Pocket Equestrian Centre.

Bella has always had a passion for horses, but this dream nearly ended before it started, as she had a nasty riding accident in 2011, where she smashed her foot so badly that she underwent four operations, contracted Compartment Syndrome and almost lost her foot. Despite this setback her determination to walk and then ride again saw her back in the saddle after four months and the rest is history.

Bella started her journey with a borrowed pony called Rosie at the Warwick ODE when her friend and owner of Rosie, Nicola, was injured. She has since gone from strength to strength winning and placing at eventing, showjumping and, of course, dressage. Bella also competes at Interschool Equestrian sports and this culminated in being awarded Showjumping Champion, Showman Champion and Senior School Overall Equestrian Champion in 2012. She has also been selected in the Pony Club Qld State Teams for dressage, showjumping and eventing and has represented her school for Equestrian at both State and National level with great success.

In dressage, Bella was awarded Runner up Qld Young Dressage Rider of the Year and she is also on the Young Riders Dressage Squad. She is always respectful to her peers, competitors, and even her parents, and when she is not competing she is always there encouraging and being supportive of other members of her discipline and teams. Bella will help anyone with anything and is truly a remarkable young lady.

In Bella’s short riding journey from the age of 10, she has faced every challenge with courage, enthusiasm and total belief in the world of the horse. Equestrian sport in Qld has benefited from her wonderful achievements, talent, inspirations of excellence, and sheer determination to be the best person and rider that she can be. With young riders like her, our Equestrian sport will continue to prosper in Australia well into the future.

Remi Stud, together with my wonderful Supporters, are delighted to award Isabella Wilkinson-McIntyre as the inaugural winner of the Remi Stud Young Rider Scholarship in 2013. Congratulations Bella. We look forward to watching you and Remi Livingstone competing in the years ahead.

This award is an annual award and application forms for 2014 will be available later this year through EA. If you know someone you think meets our criteria, please contact us at Remi Stud or Julia Battams at EA.
