Royals Out in Force to Cheer on Zara Phillips During Her Great Cross Country Round

Published on Tuesday, July 31, 2012 in 2012 London

The London Olympic cross country claimed many victims, including our own Sam Griffiths and Clayton Fredericks, who both unfortunately had falls (see full report).

Zara Phillips, however, attacked the course with gusto and went on to produce a beautifully ridden clear round within the time. Zara and High Kingdom were a pleasure to watch during their turn on the twisting and hilly course, then when they finished it was lovely to see that Zara could hardly contain her excitement!

Besides being a serious contender in this competition on 46.10, (along with our own Chris Burton who has the same score), Zara has shown the world that she's a top class competitor, who was included on the team because of her own skill, not because it's her rather illustrious grandmother's Diamond Jubilee.

Amongst the many Brits cheering on Zara were her Royal fans the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, Prince Harry, Princess Beatrice and Princess Eugenie, who all came along to support their cousin.

Team GB posted a quote from Zara on Twitter, "The crowd was unbelievable and the best thing is that it is my wedding anniversary today."

Brilliant job on the cross country and Happy Anniversary Zara!
