Scone wraps up Inglis' greatest ever Select Yearling Sales season
A strong finish to the HTBA Scone Yearling Sale has capped off a remarkable year of Inglis Select Yearling Sales, confirming 2017 as the strongest in the company’s 150 year history.
Upon the final offering at Scone today, Inglis had sold 1877 yearlings in 2017 at a clearance rate of 88%, average of $116,000 and gross of $219,410,250.
The gross figure sees Inglis beat its own record from 2008 ($212,290,086) for an Australasian Yearling Sale season and further cemented itself as a dominant market leader.
The Scone Yearling Sale ended with a year-on-year growth of 30.3%, becoming the sixth Inglis Select Yearling Sale to achieve a growth in 2017 alongside VOBIS Gold (33.5%), Easter Session II (34.8%), Easter Session I (25.5%), Inglis Classic (25.2%) and Melbourne Premier Session I (8.7%).
VOBIS Gold, Easter Sessions I & II, Scone and Classic were the five yearling sales in Australasia in 2017 with the largest growth.
Vendors were the big winners this sales season.
Nine vendors grossed $9m or more through Inglis Yearling Sales headed by Arrowfield ($22,131,000 at 91% clearance rate) then Yarraman Park ($9,042,500 at 98%), Widden Stud ($8,861,500 at 81%), Coolmore Stud ($8,213,500 at 92%) and Segenhoe Stud ($7,254,500 at 82%).
Eleven vendors sold a Lot for $1million or more while 84 vendors enjoyed a 100% clearance rate across all their yearling offerings through Inglis.
Inglis has also sold 18 of the 23 million-dollar-plus yearlings sold in Australasia in 2017.
Inglis Managing Director Mark Webster praised the vendors and buyers for a record-breaking year.
“It’s been a remarkable year for Inglis and what these statistics highlight to our vendors is that if you want to maximise your chance of selling your product at the highest-possible price, you need to be selling them through an Inglis sale,’’ Webster said.
“To have the five yearling sales with the top growth in Australasia – and six of the top seven – is a great achievement and wouldn’t be possible without the support of our vendors, breeders and buyers.
“These numbers indicate Inglis is growing ahead of the industry growth rate this year and it all augers well for our first year of selling at Riverside Stables in 2018.’’
