Second Property Hit by Hendra Virus
Published on Wednesday, June 29, 2011 in Health
Further to our earlier report about the outbreak of the deadly Hendra virus near Beaudesert in Queensland, a second property has now also been quarantined.
Initial investigations suggested no other properties were at risk - the horse who died from Hendra was moved to the second property after it fell ill, which is why that property has now also been quarantined.
Other horses on both sites will be tested for Hendra before the properties are given the all clear.
"The quarantine arrangements will stay in place until we are assured there are no Hendra cases on the properties," Dr Symons told ABC radio Wednesday.
