The Show Horse Council Rivenlee 2011 NSW Horse of the Year Show was held over the weekend at Hawkesbury Showgrounds in Clarendon and there were many stunning horses on show!

Horsezone sponsored the Newcomer Hack over 15 hands which was held on Friday and our Sponsorship Co-ordinator, Jenny Goodwin, presented the prize to the Champion, CP Renaissance (ridden by Di Firth and owned by the Godwin and Firth families) and top 10 placegetters. Reserve Champion went to Honoured (ridden by Elle Mangan and owned by Elle and Mardi Mangan).

Read Jenny's blog for more details and view photos from her day at the show.

One extra special winner at the show was Regalbrook Show Off, who is owned by Lyn and David Lambeth of Regalbrook Stud on the NSW Central Coast.

At only six years of age,  Regalbrook Show Off (aka Tommy) has taken out the title of Champion Large Pony at both the 2011 SHC NSW HOTY Show and the 2011 EA NSW HOTY.  This magnificent pony was bred by Lyn and is by the highly regarded stallion Royalwood Boy Soprano, out of Colours of Artsworth.

Showing Tommy is a real team effort, with Lyn doing the preparation, Gina Montgomery carrying out his training and Joanne Prestwidge taking the helm at shows.   Despite not getting out to as many shows as she would have liked, due to spending the last year undergoing treatment for breast cancer, Lyn is one determined lady, and in his first year as an Open Pony, Tommy has won Champion at almost every show he’s attended, in addition to placing well at Sydney and Canberra Royals.

Lyn has always had faith in this pony and could see the star quality in him as soon as he was born. “He had such presence as a foal - the name Show Off came very easily!"

What really makes those who are associated with Tommy so happy is that, not only is he a high quality pony, he is very quiet and easy to handle. Recently a young local girl,Tamara Parish, has been riding him and helping with showing when Jo is too busy.  She has been having a great time and at Penrith Show won Champion Large Pony as well as Reserve Champion Riding Pony.  At Morisset she won Champion Rider, as well as Champion Large Pony and Champion Riding Pony.

Photographer, Suz Worsley-Deacon (SWD Images) - who was official photographer for this event - also had a great show with her Show hunter, Meteor Showers.  He is a bay gelding by the English super sire Strinesdale Matador out of Grand National and HOTY Champion mare Silkwood April Showers. Meteor Showers has had limited outings and more than two years in the paddock while Suz recovered from a car accident, but after two Champions the two weeks leading up to HOTY, she was over the moon when he competed so successfully at the HOTY show. He was led and ridden by successful competitor Kate Treneman to be awarded Champion Led Show Hunter Galloway, Champion Preliminary Show Hunter Galloway, and Top 10 Small Show Hunter Galloway (placed third overall).

Congratulations to Lyn, Suz and all winners and placegetters at the HOY show!
