In early December 2011, little Seanna Thompson was critically injured when she was pinned under a horse float tail gate.

The petite toddler was crushed by the tailgate after her four year old sister Kael, unwittingly undid the latches. Seanna suffered severe head trauma including a fractured skull and eye socket, as well as blood clots on the brain.

Following the terrible accident, fellow horse people rallied around the Conondale Queensland family, organising donations, fund raising auctions and Samantha Daley even offered proceeds from a stallion service to help with financing Seanna's ongoing care.

Today Jo Johnson caught up with Seanna's mum, Christine, who advised, "Seanna is stable at the moment. She is still being closely monitored by both Nambour Hospital and Royal Children's hospital. Unfortunately the Thrombosis in the Intracranial Vein has not recanuladed as hoped and the lesions on her brain have not healed. The paplodemas in her eyes are remaining stable."

"Seanna's food intake is still a major problem. She relies heavily on oral supplements and is still refusing to eat proper foods. Her memory is vague and attention to detail is non-existent. There is constant struggle with her emotions and reactions to situations. Her ability to perform tasks like running, jumping and climbing are still severely impaired."

"In the near future and over coming years, Seanna will need brain surgery, rods inserted into her back and operations on both legs, as well as many other treatments. The long term prognosis is that she will make a fairly full recovery with a few lasting complications."

Christine is amazingly strong and positive saying, "the injuries sustained in the accident will affect Seanna throughout her life, however, she's young and pliable and won't know any differently. She'll adapt and learn her restrictions early in life and unfortunately won't have the freedom of other children. The doctors have said Seanna will never ride but I think that will depend on how determined she wants to be! I will move mountains to make sure she can achieve whatever she wants to in life. She really enjoys being around the horses and cattle and even at such a young age is a gun at the cattle junior judging at shows! This is something we will continue to encourage."

Currently, the Thompson family's life revolves around Seanna's hospital visits, for example, next week they need to spend five days in Brisbane and when hospital visits are needed everything else comes second.

Therefore, Christine has made the painful decision to have a stud dispersal sale, saying, "we have absolutely no time for the horses. Seanna's care and time spent with the other children come first and unfortunately that means, as heartbreaking as it is, we have to sell the horses. I will miss them terribly but we need to think of Seanna right now."

There are some seriously good horses for sale including:

  • three dual registered AQHA/PHAA weanling fillies;
  • gorgeous loud coloured PHAA weanling gelding;
  • top quality Appaloosa yearling gelding;
  • well bred and stunning PHAA yearling filly;
  • Proven AQHA broodmare who is also great to ride;
  • Elegant and beautiful moving four year old Paint show mare, who won ridden events as a two and three year old, with a junior youth; and
  • Handsome and talented Dun Quarter Horse stallion.

Due to the fact that the family have no time for the horses and need to sell them urgently they are all extremely reasonably priced, although Christine does say, "price is negotiable but a good home isn't!"

It is very important to her that these horses all go to loving homes where they will be able to reach their full potential.

If you're thinking of buying a good quality Paint, Appaloosa or Quarter Horse, be sure to check out these lovely youngsters that are now available from SKS Performance Horses.
