Sophie Warren - Riding for a Reason

Published on Friday, April 20, 2012 in General

In August 2011 Horsezone published 'Five Minutes With... Sophie Warren', which shed some light on the life of this dedicated young WA eventer.

Now Sophie is helping to raise funds for the Teen Challenge Foundation by riding in the Teen Challenge Derby, being held at the Swan River Showjumping Club on 29 April 2012.

Sophie says, "I am going to 'Ride for a Reason' and compete in the event. It costs approximately $30,000 to keep a student in the program for 12 months, and donations raised by the derby will help the Teen Challenge Foundation in its annual drive to provide programmes that assist troubled youth in WA."

"Teen Challenge WA is a one-year residential program which has been helping teens and young adults with life controlling problems such as drug and alcohol abuse since 1985. It teaches young people important life skills and offers academic programs focusing on character, integrity, spiritual growth and work ethic."

Sophie is asking for support in her effort to compete in this unique event, so she can raise as much money as possible for this worthwhile cause. "Your pledge of any amount - $20, $50 or even $100 or more - can make sure that Teen Challenge can continue aiding WA teens. All you have to do is a) complete the attached form and send it back to me at s.warren@live.com.au or 78 Victoria Rd, Wattle Grove, 6107. b) Pledge your donation to me in person. c) go to http://www.everydayhero.com.au/sophie_warren to pledge your donation."

"As the event is only a week away, I would be very grateful if for any contributions. Your donations are fully tax deductible and receipts will be issued."

Sophie's fundraising target is $500 and she currently has $220. Follow the link below to findout more or help Sophie raise funds for the Teen Challenge Foundation.
