Special Fundraising Auction: Original Portrait of the Legendary Makybe Diva!
At 3.15pm on Sunday, 3 April at Inglis Newmarket, there will be an auction of a stunning portrait of Makybe Diva (original oil on linen painting, 78 x 26 inches - pictured left), plus a Comission of your choice by the Artist. There will also be a parading of Makybe Diva's three-quarter sister, by Redoute's Choice, prior to the auction.
The Makybe Diva Portrait, by award winning Australian artist Michael Legge-Wilkinson was painted under license to the Diva’s owners for a limited edition print run that celebrates the Diva’s win in the 2005 Melbourne Cup, when the “Champion became a Legend”. The artist created the painting over three years, from 2006 to 2008, investing over 1000 hours of brushwork to capture every muscle and sinew in a representational portrait of the highest standard. The limited edition prints have been sold and now the original is available to investors, exclusively through this fundraising auction and in support of the Racehorse Rehabilitation Trust.
In addition to the Makybe Diva Portrait, the winning bidder will also receive a commission painting of their own choice by the same artist and of the same standard. Michael Legge-Wilkinson (pictured below - painting the Makybe Diva portrait) has been a full time artist since March 2000 and focuses exclusively on major works and commissions.
