SS Sonata Hit Looks for a Repeat at CDI

SS Sonata Hit was also Champion Four-Year-Old at the 2010 PSI Dressage with the Stars event.

Saffron Stables have a team of two set for the upcoming Sydney CDI at SIEC from 28 – 30 April with the star of the show, SS Sonata Hit out to clinch his second young horse title at the prestigious event.

Listed for sale on Horsezone, last year’s Four Year Old Champion at the CDI is lining up this year for a shot at the top Five Year Old Title.

SS Sonata Hit was imported in-utero with the Clintino mare, PSI Octavia by Saffron Stables owner Andrea Beatty.

Chatting to Andrea today she said of her team “It’s going to be an exciting few days. SS Sonata Hit is the oldest of my imported embryo foals and he’s already provided us with some thrills by winning the Four Year Old Class last year.”

He is by Paul Shockemole’s sire of sires, Sandro Hit, who needs little introduction to dressage enthusiasts as the sire of the outstanding mare Poetin II and the half-brother to other successful sires in Diamond Hit (Don Schufro) and Bloomfield Farm’s Royal Hit (Royal Dance).

Ridden by Rodney Martin, SS Sonata Hit is set to join 20 other talented youngsters in round one of the class, which is set to be judged by Ricky McMillan and Ros Quist in Arena 2B tomorrow (Thursday 28 April) from 12.30pm.

Commenting on SS Sonata Hit’s training of late, Matthew Dowsley said “All the homework is done and he’s going really well. Now we just have to wait and see how he stacks up on the day”.

Also to be ridden by Rodney for Andrea, this time in the Advanced classes, is the mare Weekend Feeling . She is by Welt Hit and is also reported to be going well.

Based in Arcadia, Andrea said of her impressive breeding program “Next season’s going to be even more exciting with another batch of youngsters hitting the young horse classes around the country. Plus, I’ll be making the most of Killawarra Equine Clinic’s new IVF technology for horses – it’s going to make these well-bred horses out of competition mares like Weekend Feeling a lot more affordable”

Sugarloaf Stables Hayley Gilbert will be represented at the event by one she has bred, Sugarloaf Sirhara (Sir Donnerhall x Belcam Cynara), ridden by Daniella Dierks in the Four Year Old Class. An impressive line up of judges will officiate at the event including  Mrs Mariette Withages  (FEI 5* Judge from Belgium), Dr. Dieter Schuele  (FEI 5* Judge from Germany), Mrs Victoire Mandl (FEI 4* judge from Austria), Mr Chang Ko Yang  (FEI 4*  Judge from Koreo ), Mrs Alison King (FEI 4* Judge from Hong Kong), Mrs Charlotte Bredahl (FEI 3* judge from the USA), Mrs Sue Hobson (FEI 3* Judge from New Zealand) and other leading judges from throughout Australia.
