Stallion of the Moment: Out Of The Blue - Australia's Unique Waler

This season, if you're looking to breed to a horse that is hardy, versatile, handsome and also happens to carry a unique part of Australian history in his bloodlines, check out the blue roan Waler stallion - Out Of The Blue.

Australia's very own breed, The Waler, proved to be valuable partners to our pioneering ancestors in war and peace. Bred originally to be a working horse, today they still excel at stock work and are used in harness, however, they are also being recognised as excellent performers in the equine sporting arena and proving to be a good horse for any purpose.

Amanda Bolton, owner of Out Of The Blue, couldn't be happier with her Aussie boy, "Sometimes taking a gamble on a horse can pay off.  We purchased Blue about 10 minutes after seeing him advertised online, late one night.  He was 18 months old, barely handled and about 800 kilometers away.  We weren't even really looking for a stallion in particular, just browsing around like so many horse owners do.  None of that mattered because after seeing the ad we knew we had to have him.  A few phone calls and a week later he arrived at our property in the Hunter Valley, NSW and as soon as we laid eyes on him we knew our gamble had paid off.  What a magnificent fellow and what a huge personality!"

"It was not long after that we found out he was a Waler, a breed well known in Australia for its connection with the Australian armed forces in WW1.  Yet another bonus for us as we both (my husband and I) have a background in the Defence Force and have a real soft spot for the legendary horses who fought so bravely alongside our Diggers."

"We've now had Blue for three years and haven't looked back.  During that time he has attended promotional events for the Waler Horse Society of Australia, been broken in and shown lightly in hand, all with excellent results and great feedback.  Early this year we relocated (family and farm) to South East Queensland and it is our hope that we can continue to use him to promote the Waler Breed here in Queensland."

"This is to be his first season at public stud and we can't wait to see what the future holds for him.  We are absolutely blessed to have him in our lives and can't imagine not having him."
