State Team does NSW Proud at Pony Club Nationals

EVENT RESULTS ON HORSEZONE BOUGHT TO YOU BY AUDI CENTRE SYDNEY
The NSW State Pony Club team have returned home from competing in South Australia at the National Pony Club Championships, bringing exceptional results with them. Forty riders representing NSW travelled to compete in the Pony Club Australia National Championships held in Murray Bridge, South Australia from the 29th September to the 4th October 2015.
For many competitors and their families the Pony Club Nationals is a once in a lifetime opportunity, held every two years in a different Australian state.
The NSW riders definitely did their state proud, with various Team wins, Individual Championships and top ten placings across all disciplines. NSW was placed 2nd overall against the other States, with Victoria claiming 1st place and the Roger Braham Perpetual Shield.
NSW had Junior and Senior Teams in all five disciplines, and was awarded the winning State Team in the Junior Dressage, Junior Eventing and Junior Mounted Games competitions.
In the Individual Championships, it was our very own Kirra Hubbard from Lake Albert who was awarded the overall Junior Eventing Champion. Congratulations to Kirra who rode her own Rosie’s Rocafella in both the Junior Eventing and Junior Dressage competitions. In the Junior Showjumping, Kate Johnson from Mangrove Mounted performed well to claim the Reserve Champion Title, placing 2nd in the junior competition.
NSW riders continued to shine in the individual placings, with multiple top ten ribbons awarded in each event. In the Junior Dressage, Claudia Hobson from Kurrajong was awarded 4th place, Kirra Hubbard from Lake Albert 5th, Sally Groat from Griffith 7th and Mikayla Wilkinson from Rylstone 8th. In the Senior Dressage age group; Katherine Mills from Bathurst placed 5th and Amelia Burton from Geary’s Gap 6th.
In the Junior Eventing Kirra Hubbard claimed 1st, and Brianna Smith from Geary’s Gap 4th. For the Senior Eventing competition Kaila Wharton from Cobar placed 5th and Adele Clark from Bungendore 7th. In the Showjumping arena, Kate Johnson from Mangrove Mountain was awarded 2nd and Jessica Towns from Gravesend 7th. In the Senior event; Mimi Tym from Wellington claimed 5th place, while Annastasia Albouze from Dubbo placed 9th.
The Junior Mounted Games Team were determined to claim victory after NSW came in 2nd at the 2013 Pony Club Nationals. The team did NSW incredibly proud, fulfilling their intentions to be named the current Junior Mounted Games National Champions. Congratulations to the Junior Team; Julia Devitt, Rhys Smith, Charlotte Millard, Andrea Biondic and Will Conn. The Senior Team were also popular contenders claiming a very close 2nd place with riders; Katie Slater, Tom Thorek, Madeline Skopek, Chloe Pearse and Lauren Slater in the Senior Mounted Games event.
In the Tetrathlon competition, selected riders were required to complete running, swimming, shooting, and riding phases over 4 days of the Championship. Our Junior Tetrathlon team finished in 5th place, with riders including Rhys Smith, Alexandra Hamblin, Brianna Smith, Lara Hamblin, Tessa Coddington and Savannah Coddington. The Senior Team was awarded 4th place overall with Katie Slater, Myfanwy Clark and Kathleen McGrath all competing.
