Stuart Tinney in the Lead After Cross Country at Sydney International Three Day Event

Published on Saturday, September 10, 2011 in Sponsored Shows

Cross Country Day in the Sydney International Three Day Event was completed today under clear blue skies at the Sydney International Equestrian Centre in Horsley Park. Sponsors, spectators and tour guests had a fabulous day by the water jump watching Australia’s best compete. A few splashes added to the excitement and the cheers could be heard all the way back at the trade stands.

The overnight leader after dressage in the Harbour IT 3* class , Tim Boland, knew he had to make time cross country to keep Sydney 2000 Olympic Gold medalist Stuart Tinney (pictured) at bay, but Billy Elliot wasn’t quite up to speed allowing Stuart to slide into first place with Pluto Mio (pictured above). New talent Victoria Luxford and Special Encounters also moved ahead of Tim leaving him in third place as the horses are prepared for the final phase of show jumping tomorrow.

There were no changes in the top five places in the Tarraleah Park 2* class, with Natalie Blundel maintaining her lead on Just a Blonde. The Equitek Excel 1* class also remained the same after cross country with Wilhelm Enzinger and Wenlock Aquifier keeping first place. The Over The Top Pre Novice Class had the most changes after cross country. Sandra Lucas moved from 3 into the lead with Diamond Affair adding just 1.6 time penalties to her dressage score.

After the final horse inspection on Sunday morning the Show Jumping begins with the first horse in the Pre Novice set to be on course at 8:30am
