A well earned defrost and a few days in the Queensland sun is how I spent the end of last week, attending the 107th annual Sunshine Coast Show, which was held at Nambour Showground 15-17 June.

Jumping numbers were up on last year and it’s always one of the bigger shows on the coast each year, with $15,000 in prize money given away over three days, anyone in the placings went home happy. New look course builder Ian Hamilton did a fantastic job and is certainly an outstanding new addition to the course builders' bank in Queensland. Duke Bowman had three massive days as the official judge and Vicki Ansell was an outstanding chief steward.

Matt Afford looked the goods with an early bedtime on Friday night, to come up fresh and fighting fit to steel the Grand Prix in an impressive main class. Others to impress over the weekend included Clem Smith, Billy Raymont and new stallion on the scene, Fairview Aliquidam, owned by Stuart and Becky Jenkins. See below for all showjumping results.

On a personal note thanks to the Sunshine Coast Committee for inviting myself and my partner up there again this year to be part of the show. A well run and well put together event. As showjumpers we need Ag shows, even if we have to jump with the Lumber Jack show in full flight. It is always great to get the sport out to the general crowd.
