Sydney International Polo Pony Sale

Published on Thursday, September 15, 2011 in General

Sydney Polo Club is proud to open its gates at 5pm on Saturday 24 September to the third annual Sydney International Polo Pony Auction which will be held under lights at the Sydney Polo Club Barn.

The catalogue of horses for 2011 includes 40 polo ponies ranging from proven high goal ponies suitable for professional players to fully experienced ponies that would suit patron or lower goal players, as well as some young horses that have been started and are ideal for going on to further training and tournaments in a few months.

INTERNATIONAL MARKETS OPEN UP FOR POLO PONIES

One of the success stories of the 2010 Sydney International Polo Sale was the purchase by Luis Estella of the Phillipines of three young polo horses from the Bayview Farm breeding and training establishment of Bob Hannon.

By Bob's imported Argentinian stallion, Avispon, who is purpose-bred for polo, the three horses, all 3 years old, had been trained up to slow chukka stage and since their purchase and shipping to the Phillipines last year have been played very successfully, after some further training, by Luis' teenage son.

Based on the success of these sales last year Bayview Farm will offer another two young horses of similar breeding at this year's sale.

The previous two sales have seen polo ponies sold to several Asian markets and all around Australia and the catalogue this year is condsidered the most even that has been assembled.
