David Lawrence SSJC President receives Club of Year Award

There were celebrations all around when Sydney Showjumping Club was named as Club of the Year recently!

On Friday 11th June, The Sydney Showjumping club was recognised as the Equestrian Club of the Year at a gala event in the Olympic room of the Melbourne Cricket Ground.

The Award was received when the Club was voted by Equestrian Australia, as the Equestrian Club of the year from nominations received from every State and Territory in the country.

The audience of over three hundred people contained representatives from The Australian Institute of Sport, The Australian Olympic committee and Australian Paralympics along with members of the Equestrian community throughout Australia.

In receiving the award on behalf of the Club,  President   David Lawrence said,  “This was testimony to the years of hard work by the long serving Committee of the club and confirmed the claim that this is the Premier Jumping club in the Country”. It has been, and will continue to be, the training ground of past and future Champions and Olympians in the Equestrian Sport of Jumping”.

The Club with over 530 members is probably the largest Equestrian Club in the country and owes a lot of its success to the support and loyalty of its members, The Equestrian NSW and The Hawkesbury City Council who supported its move to Clarendon over 20 years ago.

From a claypan in 1995, the facility now offers four state of the art fully equipped Jumping arenas with the best grass jumping surfaces in the country. The club meets for training and competition on the first and third Sundays of each month.
