Sydney Showjumping Club Winter Championships 2014 - The Best Event Yet: Results & Photos

The ingredients of beautiful winter weather, record entries and great jumping made Sydney Showjumping Club’s Winter Championships their best event yet! 

Chris Chugg commented ,“ It was  a super job by all involved to make this show a success, there were  big improvement to the practice areas and it was great jumping all weekend. It was definitely the smoothest run show from a riders perspective that they we have had!”

The course designers were Ring 1 Sue Bettingham, Ring 2 David Sheppard, Ring 3 Robert Howarth and Ring 4 David Lawrence.

The judges were Ring 1 Susan Nault, Ring 2 Graham Davey, Ring 3 Katina Duckats and Ring 4 Joyce Brook.

The feature event of the weekend, the Evans Park Grand Prix was won in an exciting jump off by Dave Cameron riding Linda Martin’s RR Dyranta and Rhys Stone won the Mini Prix riding Oaks Atador.  

Two riders were injured unfortunately, and we are wishing Ella Avery and Sally Ann Gemenis both a speedy recovery.

A big thank you to everyone who responded generously with donations to cover the vet expenses for the little dog who was found abandoned in a shocking condition at our last competition day. His new owner Mary, reports “Garbo” is thriving and is now very happy little dog!

Our SSJC Vice President and Chief Course designer Mark Atkins is on his way home from a course designing study tour to Spruce Meadows and we look forward to seeing his discoveries influencing his courses in coming SSJC events!

SSJC Club President David Lawrence gave thanks to his hard working Committee,“I really think this was the best show we have managed and it was due to the way each and every one of the Committee just took on all of the tasks as they arose, and did them with great professionalism.”

The SSJC’s next competition day is Sunday 20 July and all entries must be made through www.globalentriesonline.com.
